Assessment Task Description
Write a Communication Report on your own communication pattern and performance.
Your report should include a comparative analysis of how you communicate (either at work or at MIT, or both) with how our readings and class materials suggest you should communicate. To support your findings, you must include at least five in-text citations (from credible sources), that contribute valuable insights to your discussion in terms of what makes for the best form of communication in the relevant topics you cover.
Relevant topics you may choose to use for analysis include communication style, clarity of language, emotional intelligence, leadership style, effect of medium, nonverbal communication and conflict style. Don’t try to cover *everything,* but these are topics you can choose from.
Your report must also contain the following elements:
1. Title Page (author’s name, who the report is for, the date submitted, and the word count)
2. Table of Contents (page numbers must match section headings)
3. Introduction (background, scope of report)
4. Purpose Statement (aim of the report)
5. Findings (in-depth analysis of your own communication)
6. Discussion (comparative reflection of your findings above with and the researched theoretical principals and concepts based on topics 1 – 4)
7. Conclusions (a summary of the key discussion points)
8. Recommendations (list of changes that could be made by the chosen figure to ensure a better outcome next time)
9. List of References (in accordance with the APA or IEEE style guidelines)
10. Appendix (inclusion of data used, and any items that should be included in their entirety)
The report body must include the following:
• Appropriate section and sub-section headings
• A balanced amount of content for each section
• The discussion should progress in a logical order, supported by the correct use of paragraphs
• Correct in-text citations and end-text references of written and graphical content, where appropriate
Word limit: 1,500 words (5% above or below the word count is permissible).
You MUST write in your own words. You can use the textbook, lecture and tutorial slides, your notes, your answers to tutorial exercises, to guide your answers to the questions. However, your answers and argument examples should be written in your own words. You can copy and paste *selected excerpts* from the internet provided there are quotation marks and an in-text citation, otherwise you will not receive marks for this and you will be penalised for plagiarism.
This is an individual assessment task which means you must complete it on your own. Academic integrity rules apply. Plagiarism and academic misconduct penalties apply.
