Field Interview Research Project
Assignment: Interview a local business owner and provide a 2 page summary of your discussion.
Your interview should cover at least the following 2 questions:
What specific ethical issues has the business owner had to deal with in managing their business?
Does the business owner feel that he or she has a responsibility to make a positive impact on his or her community?
Notes:
You are welcome to interview any business owner (friends, family, local businesses, etc.) My only advice is to pick a business or business owner you find interesting.
You may give an actual transcript of the interview or a summary.
Some follow up questions:
Do you use a code of conduct?
Why or why not?
Do you choose suppliers based on their ethics or only their prices?
Do you feel that you have the opportunity to give back to the community in the way you really want to?
Do you feel that your morals are compromised by the drive to match your competitors?
Have you ever not provided service to a customer on moral grounds?
