Research Proposal
The Assignment consists of 1 submission which should be divided into clear sections, which could be:
1. An introduction to the proposal outlining the research and explaining the context, purpose, and relevance
of the topic you have selected.
2. An initial literature review showing you have properly researched the topic area, have situated your
research in an area of relevance, and show there is a gap in the published materials which your project
will fill, in part at least.
3. An explanation of your proposed methodology, justifying your choice of approach(es).
4. A conclusion summarising your project and indicating the key areas to be addressed in the wider
dissertation, assuming this topic is approved.
Assessment Guidance
This section explains what you should consider when writing your assignment.
The aim of this assignment is for you to show the module tutors that you have given careful thought to your proposed research topic, that you have done some appropriate research to identify the field into which your project fits, that it is suitable for your context if you have one and your experience if you have any. You can show that there is clear thinking about the project, that you have research questions that are manageable, logical, and can be completed within the limitation of a Master’s degree, your location in Chester, and the requirements of the Ethics form.
Successful proposals will contain clear explanations of the topic and the methodology and how the proposal will expand into the full dissertations. Proposals which contain ambiguity, and confused thinking, and which do not have a methodology that matches the project will fare less well.
