Business Relationship Management and Strategic Procurement
The Assignment will consist of two parts.
Part 1:
Critically examine the literature review articles on an effective relationship management strategy that incorporates a critical appraisal of current procurement practice and presents a conceptual framework.
Part 2:
Develop a research design to validate your conceptual framework in your chosen sector in terms of identifying the relationships/interconnectedness. Assess the value of the partnership to why it is strategically important to manage these relationships both effectively and efficiently
Managers are tasked with identifying the relationships/interconnectedness among customers and suppliers in terms of identifying business relationship management concepts to successfully manage a relationship in a project, operations, and/or supply chain. They manage business relationships through purpose and value, providing rationales as to why it is strategically important to manage these relationships both effectively and efficiently.
Your task is to analyze the literature on effective relationship management in current procurement practice. You should demonstrate theory and practice in your chosen sector and critically evaluate the literature through a conceptual framework. The main body of the report is the Structured Literature Review will conceptualised through a framework. From this conceptual framework of literature findings you need to and create a research design into how the conceptual framework can be applied to a business case that aims to improve the strategic relationships in the business function of procurement.
Once you have presented your literature review, you must develop a concept to achieve this objective. Based on this conceptual model, you must evaluate all the following:
- The business relationship management concepts value stream. ⦁ The innovative business relationship management practices that strategically important to manage these relationships both effectively and efficiently.
- The conceptual framework that drives internal between business functions, including procurement, and external with business partners.
- How the conceptual model can business case that aims to improve the strategic relationships in the business function of procurement.
- The risk involved in assessing strategic relationships.

To help support this unit, there is a reading list available on your Moodle site where you will find a range of books, eBooks, journal articles, and websites that you will find useful. Do not feel that you have to read everything, but start to tailor it in support of your assignment and associated workplace. Of course, do not feel limited to it either – it is always good practice to start to identify your own keywords and use the library gateway to identify specific journal articles.
Journals
Academic journals are a very important resource of information, containing the most up-to-date research in the field. Many of the core texts are constructed on the basis of the findings published in these journals.
The journals and journal articles that MMU has subscribed to will be instantly accessible when on campus. If you need to access these journals outside of MMU, you will need to log in to a database via the Shibboleth login route using your university student ID number and password.
