By the end of this course you will submit a formal “business” report
based on your own data analysis done in Excel. This assignment has two objectives:
1) Identify the topic of your report and the source of raw data that you can analyze in Excel. Suggestions for data sets are in the introduction module. You may use other sources of data if you like. Choose a topic that is interesting to you, or one that is pertinent to another course.
2) Demonstrate the skills you have learned in Word to produce a professional document. You should use as many of the skills listed in the Word Skill list (link provided below) as you can.
You will receive feedback on your topic and how you intend to use data.
You do not have to present your full final report here. This is a draft/proposal, not the final report itself. It should contain the section headings that will likely be in the final document and state BRIEFLY what you intend to discuss in each section. Use the formatting, theme and style elements that you have learned from the course material. You will be adding summary data, tables and/or charts from your work with Excel in the final report, NOT in this draft.
Your report does not have to be long or researched in-depth, but you should be able to find and CITE two or three academically appropriate sources on your topic, plus at least a simple set of raw data to use. Ask your instructor for guidance if needed. Remember that the final paper will be checked with TurnItIn for plagiarism.
