Final Project
The purpose of the project is to show your ability to assimilate all the information you have learned in class
using the Three Core Functions of Public Health: Assessment, Policy Development & Planning and Assurance.
See directions below.
A. Assessment: Pick a topic that you feel is a health problem. Research it and determine what you think
would be a good solution to the problem.
B. Policy and Development: Support your topics effect that indicates it is a public health concern. Include
at least 3 correctly sited peer reviewed articles and include epidemiological information and statistics to
make a convincing case of why this is a public health problem.
C. Identify who your partners might be to help you change the situation.
D. Determine a method for educating the public about the problem and come up with an educational tool
that you could use to change the problem. Please use either PowerPoint, make a brochure.
E. Assurance: ID where the disparities might be, how you will provide assurance to everyone to get the
“program, education, etc.”
F. What method will you use to evaluate the effectiveness of your program?
You must have 2-3 articles quoted that supports your health problem identified, Identify your partners that might help you with the problem- financially or volunteers, educating the public with educational tool-use powerpoint -brochure / poster, provide assurance that everyone will come,
( Maybe provide food or give aways) with education, Evaluate the effectiveness of your program. (How many attended and did they get the information? If you did screening what were the results?)Pick a topic. You may use any of the above or one you would like
Remember to include 2-3 articles to support your health problem and quote them(xxx).
Power point brochure / poster.
Assurance everyone will get to the program. ( Remember disparities- location in church area / park / etc)
(Provide food or give aways)
Evaluate the effectiveness of the program. ( How many showed up / not many / success – (people made aware of a condition they did not know existed)
I hope this will help. I will grade on these points as well. Points will be taken off if the above mentioned are not in your project.
