Assignment 1 will require students to utilize any one theory as presented in chapters 1 and 2.1. The objective of this assignment is to provide evidence of learning and interpretation of the theory applied to practice. Assignment 1 will be worth 5% of your final grade in MGT 263.
Components of the assignment:
• Cover page with student name, student number, course, section, and assignment number.
• Assignment 1 will be required to be produced as a Word document with 12 point Times New
Roman font and 1.5 line spacing.
Content:
• For assignment 1 the instructor will assign a North American organization news article for you to utilize to create your assignment 1.
• Read through chapters 1 and 2.
• Read through the assigned news article.
• Select a topic (one topic) that interests you from the designated chapters and that you can identify as being applied by the organization in the assigned article.

Assignment 1 should be constructed as follows:
• The cover page including all necessary components as listed above.
• The news article the instructor assigned.
• The written assignment 1 which will include:
o A few lines of theory that identify the HR topic that you will be discussing in your assignment 1. This will provide the background for the instructor to see how you apply the theory.
o The next section will require you to describe how you recognise that the organization is utilizing this theory, given the article information.
o The next section will require you to provide information as to how the use of this HR theory is currently effecting the organization. What are the current implications?
o The last section will require you to discuss the future impacts/consequences for the organization given the HR theory and news article information provided. I am looking for you to evidence learning as to the impacts of such a practice on an organization/company.
o APA correct, and complete, citations must be included for all resources and reference materials utilized. This will be provided at the end of your assignment 1.
Evidence of learning will be demonstrated by:
o Your ability to identify the theory in the article.
o Explain how the theory might affect the organization given the article information currently and into the future.
Correct and complete APA citations are required or a zero grade will be assessed.
Grading
The assignment will be marked out of 5 using the Rubric as provided below.

Northern Health says about 10,000 patients in Prince George underwent procedures with endoscopes that weren’t property cleaned.
The endoscopes were used over a three-year period between 2012 and Dec 2014 at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.
The procedures included colonoscopies, upper gastric scopes, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatogram (ERCP) exams
Ronald Chapman, the vice president of medicine with Northern Health said the problem occurred during the pre-cleaning of the instrument.

Extremely tow infection risk
Chapman said improperly cleaned endoscopes could causo hepatitis B and C and HIV infection, but in this caso, the B.C. Centre tor Disease Control has determined that risk of infection is
extremely low.
Between 2012 and last month, there is no evidence a single infection arose from use of the
endoscopes, he said.
Northern Health will be contacting patients who have had one of the procedures during the time frame, and their physicians, to provide them with additional information.
“We would particularly like to apologize for any undue stress, especially… for our patients, he said.
The error did not impact the diagnostic outcome of the tests, he said.
