The intelligence report is based on the topic of preventing illicit drugs being imported into Australia and which government agencies can do to help prevent/catch it. And what intelligence sources they would use E.g. SIGINT, HUMINT etc.
Part A, assume there is a team of 5 people, each given an agency e.g. ASIO, ACIC, ASIC – and each one describes describe core tools and competencies that each agencies can use to stop/ prevent drug importation.
For defining objectives – create SMART goals that would help stop the importation using these agencies and their tools.
For collaboration – describe how the agencies could work together and collaborate to assist each other.
Part A: Team component
Intelligence operation plan (500 words)
Establishing roles and agency representation
Describe the roles and representation of members. (50 words)
a) Begin by assigning each team member an agency or organisation, ensuring a diverse representation that mirrors the multifaceted nature of Intelligence operations.
b) Briefly define the core competencies and jurisdictions of these entities.
Defining objectives
Clearly articulate the objectives of the investigation. (100 words)
a) Objectives should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
b) This clarity will guide the investigation’s focus and the interagency collaboration strategy.
Collaboration strategy
Detail the mechanisms for engagement and collaboration among the represented agencies. (500 words)
a) This may include joint task forces, interagency meetings, secure communication channels, and protocols for information sharing and operational deconfliction.
b) Highlight the importance of leveraging each agency’s unique capabilities and resources.
Information collection plan
Describe the information collection plan. (200 words)
a) Develop a comprehensive plan for gathering intelligence, specifying the types of information needed, sources (including open sources), and collection methods.
b) Outline how each agency can contribute to this effort based on its resources and access.
c) Emphasise the role of open-source intelligence (OSINT) and how it will be integrated with classified sources to provide a holistic understanding of the issue at hand.

a)Define a plan that has SMART goals, and that uses SIGINT, HUMINT ,GEOINT and other intelligence sources. And, how the data from these sources could be collected.
b) Outline how each agency can best use the resources that it has access to to contribute to this plan and objective
c) Show how open-source intelligence (OSINT) can be combined with classified information to provided a holistic understanding of the issues that may be encountered.

Information analysis (1500 words)
Information Sorting and Evaluation (300 words)
a) Describe your process for organizing and assessing the relevance and reliability of collected information.
b) Apply critical thinking to distinguish between valuable data and noise.
Analytical Frameworks (400 words)
a) Select and justify the use of specific analytical frameworks or methodologies appropriate for the investigation’s objectives.
b) This could include link analysis, pattern recognition, or forecasting techniques.
Analysis and Findings (800 words)
a) Conduct a thorough analysis of the information, synthesising data from various sources to draw insights related to the investigation’s objectives.
b) Clearly present your findings, noting any assumptions or uncertainties.

Report on investigation results (1500 words)
Introduction and objectives recap

a) Briefly introduce the investigation and restate the objectives.
b) Provide a clear context for the report.
Methodology overview
Describe the methodology. (300 words)
a) Summarise the collaboration strategy and information collection plan.
b) Highlight the contribution of each agency.
Analysis summary
Provide a brief description of the analysis. (400 words)
a) Each team member should contribute a concise summary of their individual analysis.
b) Integrating these insights to present a comprehensive view of the findings.
Evidence-based recommendations and strategies
Describe the recommendations and strategies (500 words)
a) Based on the analysis, propose actionable recommendations and strategies for addressing the Intelligence objectives.
b) These should be grounded in the evidence gathered and analysed during the investigation.
Conclusion
Conclude with a reflection on the investigation process, including lessons learned and the value of interagency collaboration. (100 words)
