Purpose
Throughout the semester, we have looked at different cultures as they express themselves through their art, music, literature, drama, architecture, and other media. This assignment gives you a chance to discuss not only what you have learned, but how you have been affected by the experience.

Describe the impact of a specific cultural artifact on your world view
Evaluate the role of humanities in your overall education
Write a coherent essay free of grammar errors
Task
In a well-developed essay of at least five paragraphs, evaluate the role of humanities in your overall education. Your essay should consider the following ideas; however, you are not required to follow this specific order:
Does a humanities course deserve a place in a modern college curriculum? Should it be required of students? Why or why not?
Do you feel this course contributed to your education? Consider more than just how it does or does not play a role in your declared major. What role does it play in making you a more well-rounded individual? In what way did it (or did it not) affect how you view the world?
Of the pieces you encountered this semester (art, music, drama, architecture, literature, anything you studied) what piece did you find most intriguing? Why? Use specific details and examples in your explanation.
For the piece you have chosen, explain how it has affected our own, modern world.
Honors Students Only
Your essay should also consider your work as an honors student in this course. Include a paragraph that discusses how the additional honors experiences affects your work in the course. In what ways do you feel it benefited you? In what ways did your additional experiences enhance the course?
