Likewise all equations, theorems and lemma should be consecutively numbered, using the section number if appropriate. These elements of the report should be referred to in the text using their numbers. For example: Einstein proposed his infamous formula relating mass and energy , given in equa-tion 2. E = (2) In equation 2, E represents energy, m represents the mass and c represents the speed of light
3.4 Units It is critical that every figure that is written that represented a physical property has the relevant unit it is associated with (clearly if the physical property is non-dimensional, this will not be appropriate). This is also the case for any figures given on graphs (axes should have units) and in the column headings for tables. Missing units can lead to misunderstanding of result presented and an inability to repeat or even make any me of the work that has been conducted. Forgetting units is an easy habit to develop and one that is heard to break, so it is worth giving special attention.
3.5 Significant figures In addition to appending any numerical information presented with appropriate units, it is also professional to ensure that an appropriate number of significant figures are displayed. The identification of an appropriate numbers of significant figures is closely coupled to the concept of error analysis presented in section 2.8. To determine the precision (see section
