One of the best ways to learn about infant-toddler development and growth is to interview a parent/or caregiver. This paper helps you with that process.
For this assignment, you will interview someone regarding parenting/caring for an infant and toddler. This could be a friend, coworker, family member, etc. I suggest you record your interview, so you don’t have to rely solely on your notes to develop your paper.
There is a list of questions you can use as a guide. Please add your questions to the list. Most importantly, base your questions on your relationship with your interviewee.
Write an essay in which you discuss the interview and analyze what you have been learning in class. Typed, 12pt font, double-spaced. Please add the title and reference page.
Some possible questions for the interview include:
Tell me about your child/children (temperament, likes, and dislikes)?
How did having a baby change you emotionally?
What is your parenting style?
What are your views on attachment?
How do you support your child during times of separation?
What goals and dreams do you have for your child?
What are the 3 challenges of parenting?
What are the 3 positive aspects of parenting?
What are the names of all people who live in your home and their relationships to your child?
Describe your most common method of guidance/discipline (toddler).
How does your culture/social identity shape your parenting?
What traditions are important to you?
How have these traditions shaped your parenting?
*I encourage you to use these questions as a guideline however, be encouraged to ask open-ended questions to obtain more information from your interviewee. Extend where you feel you might need more information about parenting/caregiving during infancy.
Turn in: Typed, 12pt font (Times New Roman) double-spaced.
Title Page (separate from the body of the paper-1 page). Add a title, name, and date.

Summary of the interview. What did you learn about your interviewee (parent/caregiver) caring for an infant and toddler? Do not list the questions or responses. This is not a running record but a summary of the interview (minimum 2 pages). Connect to readings or videos.
