Introduction
I-O psychology applies psychology to businesses and organizations. As such, it blends
the academic discipline of business with the academic study of psychology.
The organizational psychology side of I-O psychology focuses on human behavior in
the workplace. Employees at all levels, from the organizational leaders to the entry-level
workers, bring internal psychological factors to work with them each day. These factors
include motivations, attitudes, emotions, and stress. Organizational psychologists seek
to enhance the well-being of employees, leaders, and teams as well as the overall
organization.
To learn more about internal psychological factors in the workplace, this first
assessment will focus on several components of stress. You'll consider dynamics of
stress in the workplace alongside reviewing research on the topic. While you work on
this assessment, consider how improving stressful conditions can benefit both the
individual employee and the organization as a whole.
Overview
This assessment will include two deliverable submissions:

1. A quad chart with audio recording of the oral presentation.
2. Your self-assessment.

Preparation

● Step 1: Choose one of the following:

○ Physical effects of workplace stress.
○ The relationship between prejudice and stress in the
workplace.
○ The relationship between motivation and stress in the

● Step 2: Create a poll question related to your topic and poll people in your
life.
● Step 3: Use the Capella University Library to find one peer-reviewed
research article on your topic. You may want to practice using the
Discipline-Specific Databases library guide to assist in your search.

ethical principles involved when doing research with human participants.
