Partial Draft:
Write a partial paper draft of your Comparative Literary Analysis Essay. Remember, you can choose to analyze any two of the following primary works: Robert Louis Stevenson’s, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus, Chappie directed by Neill Blomkamp, Philip Dick’s, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.
Your partial paper draft should at minimum:
Introduction Paragraph: Need to provide an introduction paragraph that starts with an attention grabber, identifies the authors/directors and the texts you will analyze. As well, you will want to provide a brief one or two sentence summary of the novel or film you will analyze. Most importantly, you must tell your reader what point you will be proving and how you will prove it (thesis statement).
Body Paragraphs: Need to provide a minimum of three body paragraphs (this does not include your introduction paragraph). Each body paragraph needs to include a topic sentence that directly correlates to the thesis statement / argument of the paper, textual evidence (i.e. quotes) with appropriate quote integration, detailed analysis and/or explication of the quotes you are using for support, and citation of quotes (author, page numbers in quotes / MLA format.
Optional Conclusion: Your conclusion allows you to have the final say on the issues you have raised in your paper, to synthesize your thoughts, to demonstrate the importance of your ideas, and to propel your reader to a new view of the subject. However, this is difficult to do without writing your paper and proving your argument first. Therefore, providing a concluding paragraph in your partial paper draft is optional.
Spelling, Punctuation, and Mechanics: Need few or no syntactical or grammatical errors, well proofread, the use of the present and present perfect tenses in your analysis of literary quotes.
Deadline: Partial draft due by 8:00 PM
