Question: Review ecological and morphological characters shared by survivors of mass extinctions. What allows animals and plants to survive extended harsh conditions?
Word count: 2000 words (excluding references)
This will be a scientific essay, not a pop-science article, or a blog post. It must be thoroughly researched using primary literature (journal articles). In palaeontology, rarely is anything “cut and dried” and we must do our best with what is preserved in the fossil record. Therefore, your essay must critically evaluate the available evidence to support your argument/s.
