Assignment Task

In this assessment, you are required to extend one of the following games we have worked on in the workshops:

a) Infinite Runner

b) Alien tripod Attack

c) Fruit Ninja

d) Bomberghost

e) Space shooter

Listed below are the extension requirements:

a) Include new game assets that would change the theme/look and feel of the (digital arts/design students (DIGM6450) are expected to create 50% of your own assets, computing students (COMP6100/DIGM6390) are allowed to use external assets found online).

b) Include well-designed menus and Uls/HUDs.

c) Include at least two significant gameplay features. For a feature to be considered significant, it should be something we have not done before in the workshops, and it should require considerable effort to implement. For instance, for Bomberghost, one can add a set of power-ups (giving temporary invincibility to the player, temporary speed bump, and providing an extra life). For the tripod game, one can a new type of moving creature, which upon killed will drop either a powercell or an extra life. These features normally involve addition of new objects and/or new scripts.

d) Use appropriate sound effects/music to enhance gaming experience. The sound files can be sourced externally as long as appropriate credit is given.

e) Create a (max 4 min) video gameplay trailer for your game, followed by a reflection of the key design and technical process.

The video should be up to 4 mins and you must include the following in the video: ·

The Gameplay Trailer: The video should show the key gameplay features which expanded on the workshop games.
Reflection of the Design Process: there should be clear descriptions on the design decisions (i.e. why a feature is implemented and how it improves the gameplay).
For COMP6100/DIGM6390 students only, explanations of the key aspects of implementation: explain how the features are implemented in Unity. These can include some snippets of scripts showing the implementations, or screenshots of Unity showing how certain things are implemented. We do not expect an explanation for every feature, only the key ones.
For DIM6450 students only, some initial design ideas (e.g. sketches, level design ideas, modeling, etc.) as well as justification of artistic choice (e.g. why a specific art style is chosen and how it complements gameplay)
A credit screen if needed.
You can use subtitles or voice-over for explanations and reflections.
