Questions:
The Proposed Units 7&8, East Hills is now at the tender stage. Your construction organisation is invited to submit a tender for this project using the detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQ) provided by the client team (see attached in vUWS the relevant drawings and the BoQ in two volumes). The senior estimator has divided the work between several estimating teams.
• First, your team is requested to price preliminaries for this given project. (see Part A under Task)
• Next, each estimator is requested to price ONE trade page of this BoQ with rate analyses (see Part B under Task).Your aim should be to make a strong impression to the senior estimator by demonstrating your estimating and researching skills and preparing an estimate that maximises chances of winning the tender.
Task:
In this assignment, there are two parts as described below:
• Part A (Group report) – Students are required to work as a group (4-5 members) and submit this group report related to pricing preliminaries as explained below.
• Part B (Individual report) – Students are required to work individually and submit an individual report related to a trade and rate break-ups using an estimating software as explained below.
Section A1: Preliminaries Write-up
This should be a write-up explaining the importance of accurately identifying and pricing cost-significant preliminaries to maximise chances of winning a tender with appropriate referencing (about 750+/- words).
Section A2: Preliminaries Bill
This section should include a priced preliminaries bill for the identified cost-significant preliminaries items for the given project. You can make assumptions for any missing project information. Please use the template uploaded in vUWS, NOT the preliminaries section provided in the given BoQ.
Submission format: Please follow a general report structure with a title page, introduction, main parts and the sections as detailed above, conclusions, references and appendices. A cover page template is uploaded in vUWS for the use of Part A group report. You must provide evidences on your pricing sources, which contributed Section A1 and Section A2, in Appendices to Part A.Only one member from each group should submit this report and when feedback is received this member should share feedback with other group members. See grouping details in the latter part of this outline.
Part B – Individual Report on pricing a BoQ trade page using available estimating software
Each member is expected to select ONE page from below listed trades in the given Bills of Quantities (this page should have at least 8 pricing items).
