The purpose of this report is to bridge the gap of understanding between those who have never been exposed to different religious formal rituals and traditions. The report should focus on educating the reader on the spirit behind these celebrations and discusses their importance. To better facilitate their dialogue across traditional and cultural barriers in the future. Students are tasked with examining and understanding the religious beliefs of Eid Al Fitr. The student will use critical thinking skills to analyze and make key observations about the celebration that will be included in the report.

These are the set of observations that must be reported.
Sacred times –
What time does it meet? (Time? Sunrise? Sunset?)
What day of the week? (Friday? Sunday?)
Was this a special day in the ritual calendar? (Ramadan? Easter?)
Sacred space –
How are the landscape of the grounds?
How do the buildings fill the land? Is there one building? How does the property “lead” to it?
Describe the exterior architecture? How does the design inspire what happens inside?
Describe the interior layout? How does the interior architecture induce “awe” and reverence? What are the major features? What is it lacking that you expected?
Describe the features of the main ritual space for collective prayer or worship? Are those conducting the service separated from attendees by any furniture or architectural design? (i.e. elevated on a stage, or behind a barrier of some type).
Sacred objects –
What objects are used by people during the service? (i.e. books, symbolic objects held during prayers).
What objects are used by the facilitators during the service? (i.e. crosses, clothing, bells, incense)
What fixed objects are referenced during the service? (i.e. furniture, statues, symbols)
Are objects passed between people or offered the attendees during the service?
Sacred offices –
Who facilitates the ritual during the service? What are they called?
Are they male or female, and is this significant to the tradition? Why?
What training do they undergo?
What are the various offices that facilitate the service? (i.e. pastor, priest, imam, usher).
Sacred rites –
Describe the flow (order) of service. What happens first, happens next, happens last?
Does it build in intensity? Does it have interruptions? Quiet moments?
How does the shared experience of those gathered keep in balance with the individual experiences of people? Do they all pray together are do some prayer alone?
Sacred myths –
What stories are referenced from the sacred text (Bible or the Qur’an)? Are these explained or is it assumed that attendees know them?
How does the art and architecture of the facility reference these stories? (i.e. stained glass, artworks, sculptures).
Are these stories referenced through other forms such as media or music?
What was the major message or theme of the speech/oral presentation?
