You will write a reflection (1-2 pages single-spaced) on how what you have learned from the course can be applied in area studies, your discipline, and context, with a focus on the teaching of global competence, and the use of technology to do so. Please provide examples from the course and be specific in your description of your learning. In your reflection you should: -review of some of your peer comments in the Global Education Integrating technology discussion – reflect on your media analysis report AND review at least 3 interview reports of your peers to reflect on what you learned about migration across the globe. – review at least 2 peer infographics about sustainability in Africa. COURSE DESCRIPTION In this course, students will gain an understanding of ways to teach global studies, foster global competence, and integrate global education concepts into the curriculum. Two themes – People on the Move and Sustainability and Development – are used in this course to: a) model pedagogy that fosters global competence, b) promote critical thinking about global issues across world regions, and c) discuss the integration of emerging technologies in global studies. By the end of the course, students will have contemplated the importance of developing global citizens to take action and promote change in society and will have been introduced to educational resources and pedagogical approaches for globalizing future courses. This assignment will be graded for a) how well you address the areas for reflection outlined above b) examples provided c) clarity of writing and communication. The rubric is available here.
