EDmAs6032 Early Childhood Language and Literacies (2022) Assessment 2 Teaching Resource Kit and Report Due Week 12: Sunday 30’5 October 2022 by 11.55pm
Purpose: This task asks you to create a resource kit with five teaching resources that can be used with children aged three to five years old. As part of the task, you will present a written report that outlines the theoretical rationale for use, potential learning outcomes, and how resources cater for young children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Learning Outcomes: K1, K2, K3, K4 S2, S3, S4 A2, A3 APST 1.3, 1.4 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 5.1 Weighting: 40% This is made up of 20% for the teaching resource kit and Kaltura video and 20% for the written theoretical discussion. Word count:
• Resource creation and Kaltura video (1000 words equivalent) • Written Report (1500 words)
In the first part of the task, you will create (design and make) the five teaching resources for the kit and then produce a Kaltura video to demonstrate the resource kit and outline the range of ways you might use the teaching resources to support oral language and early literacy development with 3 to 5-year-old children.
Timing of Kaltura video: 5 — 7 minutes.
The second part of the assessment task is a written report of 1500 words where you will explain:
• the theoretical rationale behind the teaching resource kit • how the resource kit supports oral language and early literacy for all children, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds • the connections to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)/Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) • potential learning outcomes • pedagogical approaches and strategies for each of the five created resources.
In the discussion, link theoretical perspectives to current academic research and include at least eight (8) references, including at least five from the course materials. Use APA style 7th edition for in-text citations and the reference list.
Marking Criteria
