The problem/non-problem with documentary photography
A major criticism of documentary photography is using photographs of the downtrodden for personal gain, professional gain and advocacy. This can put the documentary photographer in a quandary.
For example:
This photo, known as Struggling Girl was made in the Hunger Triangle in 1993 by Kevin Carter.
