Self-Assessment Discussion
Nursing theories involve developing one’s abilities, which entails developing a framework for describing, predicting, explaining, and managing phenomena related to a nurse’s professional activities. Every mid-range theory assumes that nursing staff competence depends on the ongoing acquisition of experience, information, and clinical skills on both a theoretical and practical level. The main goal of the middle range theory is to give nurses clear instructions for progress by establishing concrete objectives for each group (Peterson & Bredow, 2019). By training nursing workers based on a theory with the help of clinical mentors and expert nurses, monitoring staff based on competency, and creating individual nursing professional development plans.
The theoretical framework emphasizes subjective experiences and connections. This is related to relying on knowledge accuracy and logical reasoning. Although nursing care is considerably more complicated than obtaining physical health improvement, it is essential to prioritize evidence and precision in medical advice. While the critical theory seeks to reconcile subjectivism and objectivism to produce meaningful knowledge, the approach to human care that guides my practice is predicated on impersonal, ethereal, and immeasurable ideas like love and compassion.
Contrary to the fundamental tenets of the theories, the core strategy for carrying out my primary duties is fostering meaningful and fruitful relationships with clients; however, the success of this process is typically reliant on subjective factors, such as mood and emotional state, and so forth. The intricacy nursing theory approach holds that knowledge is produced when systems are researched with an eye toward complexity and diversity. Instead of overemphasizing the importance of specific components, this strategy aids in achieving that goal. Every theory focuses on comprehending people and what it means to provide holistic treatment.
Grand nursing theorists create their works based on their personal experiences and the passage of time, which explains why theories differ so significantly analyze the nursing metaparadigm’s person, nursing, health, and environmental pillars. Middle-range theories are frequently based on the writings of a great theorist, however, they may also be generated from research, nursing practice, or the ideas of other professions. Neuman’s systems model is one broad idea that can direct advanced nursing practice. This theory emphasizes stressors that affect the relationship between the client and the environment, employing prevention as the cornerstone for health promotion and offering a holistic and all-encompassing approach to maximizing client health. ( Wills, 2019) A middle-range hypothesis is helpful because client outcomes are connected to advanced practice nursing interventions. Grand and mid-range theories are sets of related ideas that serve as a thinking framework for advanced practice nursing.
Grand and middle-range theories would increase patient happiness and physical and mental wellbeing. A nurse and a manager would be able to provide feedback through a personal interview as part of the formative assessment of the competence theory, during which the objectives and strategies for ongoing professional activity improvement will be discussed. Greater nurse-patient collaboration would be attained based on compassion, respect, and emotional presence, in addition to improved nurse-nurse cooperation.
The excellent nursing philosophy has ensured that healthcare promotion considers cultural considerations. Nurses can evaluate various patient care procedures by formulating ideas creatively and rigorously and putting them into practice. The degree of theory development is one area of internal criticism; nurses adhere to the majority of middle-range theory norms, such as the right to autonomy, and the theory is employed in the day-to-day operations of a healthcare institution. The idea has received external criticism for its applicability in the field. Description of the Pain Theory People has justified suffering for as long as anybody can remember and sought comfort from it through medication. Healthcare Providers regularly encounter patients who are in pain and have very high expectations for a cure. Numerous factors might affect a healthcare decision.
Learning is the primary cognitive ability that enables individuals or patients to anticipate events and exercise control over those that have an influence on their everyday lives. The key element in the development of self-efficacy is learning. Self-efficacy beliefs impact a person’s motivation, behavior, and thoughts. Chronic sorrow is defined by recurring periods of overwhelming sadness that lasts for days, weeks, or months after a significant loss (Wijaya et al., 2022). The idea offers a framework for comprehending and assisting those who have experienced a single or recurring loss. A patient can respond to questions about religion and spirituality on the 10-question Likert scale of the spirituality questionnaire evaluation instrument.
The self-efficacy theory has focused on clinical elements of care, training, nursing practice, and competency. To alter how people perceive physiological data and help them cope with physical sensations, nurses can use visualized mastery, which condenses emotional responses to a single scenario. The middle-range hypothesis of chronic grief generally depicts this phenomenon as a typical and appropriate response to stressful circumstances and traumatic losses in life (Moore, Avino & McElligott, 2022). This theory’s key advantage is that it gives nursing practitioners a framework for comprehending and interpreting people’s grieving processes. As a result, it facilitates nurses’ ability to identify and treat such dealing with the loss using internal and external methods. The role of the surrogate is often experienced because nurses serve as parents in many situations for a patient.
Integrative nursing integrates the unitary paradigm into policy by fusing caring science, nurses, and integrative nursing principles. In order to inform and change nursing practice, healthcare guiding principles, and patient care delivery methods across healthcare settings and diverse patient populations, this strategy combines holistic individuals and nursing processes. The unitary approach is consistent with the caring science concepts and principles of integrative nursing.
The inequalities in a formative relationship with a family or with a caregiver serve as the foundation for the attachment theory. It is crucial to keep in mind that they are produced as a result of a caregiver’s influence and the degree to which a child’s attachment requirements are met in order to notice them. The attachment requirements include the want to feel special, cherished, supported, and valued. Sensibly fulfilling these objectives is related to the growth of a secure connection. It is one’s ability to develop ad hoc connections, mature autonomously, and possess future self-confidence.
