A whistle-blower from the Department of Health and Ageing alleges that VIEW Aged Care Services, an aged care residential provider, has rorted millions of dollars from Federal Government funding. The Commonwealth nursing officer says she was told to look the other way when she found evidence of rorting. The nurse says VIEW Aged Care Services, as well as other providers that she has become aware of have used taxpayers’ money earmarked for the care of elderly Australians to pump up theirprofits. She claims that VIEW Aged Care has exaggerated their residents’ needs to get more Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) money.Compounding these allegations is the sub-standard care provided by VIEW Aged Care which was alleged by the families of a resident only last month. The complaint related to the treatment of the family’s elderly father who had allegedly received inadequate wound care leading to a severe infection, and had been regularly left waiting to be assisted to go to the toilet, the bathroom and the shower.
