THIS IS THE POST THAT I HAVE TO DISCUSS
1. Are there relationships between the health practices, maternal-fetal attachment, and the neonatal outcomes for white non-Latino women and African American women living in urban areas?
2. Do patients with stroke who receive stroke information alongside their care givers have better show healthier coping skills and recovery than those who prefer to have none?
3. What are the difference in attitudes, responses to drugs, and recovery rates for patients receiving care from nurses in hospitals and those who receive care from delegated staff such as the health care assistants?
4. What is the overall attitude of nurses and care givers on the cancer unit care?
Research question 1: Dependent and independent variables Maternal attachment, race, health practices, urban setting, and income are (independent variables) whereas neonatal outcomes are (dependent variables). Non-Latino white women and African American women are the question’s population (population). The question’s testability is the effects of the mothers’ health practices from different races and their maternal attachment on the neonate outcomes.
Why choose question 1? Racial inequality is an issue that has been prevalent for quite some time in the United States of America. White non-Latino women have increasingly led comfortable or rather better lives than women of color and other races who, in most cases, face poverty and segregation. Previous studies have assessed the neonatal outcomes among people living in rural areas, and one such study is Waits et al.’s (2020) in Alabama rural counties research. According to the survey by Waits, Hurst &Smith (2020), there is a high infant rate for children living in such areas due to the lack of clinicians to help in labor and treat children. Consequently, the high number compared to the counties with the labor and delivery units. The study, therefore, concluded that areas with labor and delivery units contributed to better neonate outcomes. However, their research revealed very little concerning the racial data concerning the neonatal outcomes. However, the researchers mentioned nothing concerning maternal attachment and women’s health practices, which are also crucial factors in determining the neonate outcomes.
Due to segregation, most African American women prefer going to hospitals that offer services to people of color to avoid missing out on benefits. However, in a study by Lake et al. (2018), they noted that in as much as women’s children receive neonatal care, there is a concern for missing nursing care, which may endanger children of the African American race. According to Lake and colleagues, the neonates in the high-black neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are at high mortality risk due to inadequate staffing, which may affect the quality of services they receive compared to their white counterparts.
What is the significance of this study, then? The study incorporates other factors alongside race: income, maternal attachment, health practices of pregnant women of both races, and an urban setting to influence neonatal outcomes. The study by Lake et al. (2018) suggested that future researchers evaluate the effects of missing nursing care on neonatal outcomes. However, since the factors mentioned above are equally important, this research question will uncover their neonatal outcome contributions. Worth noting also is income’s contribution to living standards and health practices of both races’ women.
