The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (APA Division 2) released a resource that allows individuals an opportunity to assess where they are in regards to nine academically-related areas. The name of this resource is the Acad Skills Inventory.pdfDownload Acad Skills Inventory.pdf. You can put your scores into a table with this link – Academic Skills Inventory-Revised (ASI-R)Download Academic Skills Inventory-Revised (ASI-R). (BTW – Canvas doesn’t handle tables well, so I recommend taking a screen shot of your completed table and ADD it to Images in the Canvas course. Then you click on Images and it is inserted into your post.
Completing the ASI-R will give you valuable feedback about your status and areas of strength and weakness. Currently, we don’t have an online survey developed for you to complete and reports to be generated.
That means you get to download a copy of the instrument complete the assessment, and report your results in a discussion thread.
Creating the report of your results will reinforce methodology principles of gathering, summarizing, and explaining results.
Each student will have a main Discussion response composed of three parts.
The first part is a Table that presents the descriptive information regarding your Academic Skills Inventory outcomes (see example immediately following this description).
The second part is a Statement of Strengths based upon the strongest areas in the Academic Skills Inventory.
This is description that can be accomplished in one to two paragraphs and should describe approximately three to four areas that you scored highest in and explanation of that. This is your Statement of Strengths.

The third part is a Statement of Weaknesses based upon the weakest areas in the Academic Skills Inventory.
This is description that can be accomplished in one to two paragraphs and should describe approximately three to four areas that you scored the lowest and explanation of that. It may be useful to add in statements of ways that you can improve in these areas. This is your Statement of Weaknesses.
