Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 6: Finalizing the Plan
My specialization is to become a Psychiatrist Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have always been passionate about providing help to sick people in society. I believe sickness undermines the quality of life and denies people an opportunity to enjoy life. I chose to be a Psychiatrist Mental Health Nurse Practitioner when I realized that one of the affected groups is people with mental disorders. I have a cousin who has a mental disorder due to various factors. The genesis of the mental disorder is drug and substance abuse. He has been neglected by people who claim he wasted his life by using drugs. I believe providing help to such people can serve as the mission of being alive in the world.
The feedback I received from colleagues is that I should expand my knowledge in mental health. The knowledge will help me to observe ethical issues in the contemporary delivery of care. The feedback was vital in identifying new areas of information I should start focusing on.
One of the organizations near me is Acacia Telehealth. The organization provides quality help to students. Students in colleges and universities are the most affected persons who suffer from mental disorders (Grover et al., 2020). Learners are exposed to the risk of depression, substance abuse disorder, and anxiety. It is vital to provide help to the learners realize the importance of therapeutic interventions (Garriga et al., 2020). I can become part of Acacia Telehealth by providing healthcare services via online platforms. The pandemic is increasing the need to provide quality care to patients through online platforms (Zulfic et al., 2020). Participating in the delivery of care will help me to sharpen my skills in the delivery of mental healthcare services to different people suffering from diverse conditions.
