Various project management approaches exist, each with its specific principles and practices. The most common approaches are Kanban, Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc. Agile project management is the standard methodology preferred in incremental and iterative projects. The approach is value-centred and flexible with dynamic features in ‘sprints’ to reach their milestones and involve the client (Wernham, 2012). The scrum approach closely relates to agile methodology. The methodology is value-centred and purposes to create and put up with intricate products through accountability, teamwork and iterative development. Scrum master ensures the execution of scrum events known as ‘sprints’ to accomplish a goal within a specified time frame. Kanban methodology deals with early dispersals with self-managing and cooperative teams (Andrei et al., 2019). It attains efficiency through visual signals at different phases of the growth process. The waterfall is a traditional methodology that adheres to a sequence of events in a particular order. Each stage is completed before moving to the next step.

Agile management methodology is a suitable approach to improve outcomes in General Dynamics UK. The company specializes in technical operations like aviation systems, war trucks, and munitions development for military and civil forces. The methodology blends time and cost constraints to traditional plan organization methodology. General Dynamics has a hybrid, project-level agile structure known as Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM) (Agile Business Consortium, 2017). The approach is most suitable for the project since General Dynamics is an incremental and iterative project. Additionally, the agile approach is very flexible and can have other approaches within it. Since General Dynamics has some complexity in its operations, the agile approach is the most suitable methodology.

Considering the changing needs and nature of operations of General Dynamics (e.g. munitions development, aviation systems, military and civil forces), the principles of the agile approach fits well in the system. The principles include client satisfaction through real-time and uninterrupted software delivery; regular working software delivery (Andrei et al., 2019); accommodate fluctuating requirements in the whole process of development; and trust among the involved individuals. Working with governments, especially the military and munitions development, requires trust and real-time delivery of results. The development of aviation systems also requires real-time and uninterrupted software delivery to ensure client satisfaction. Regarding the changing nature of munitions development, the agile approach suits best due to its ability to put up with the changing needs in the entire development process. The approach can make as soon as the need arises.
