Assignment task
The quantitative dataset for you to work on will be released in week 6. You are required to work
on the dataset week by week in line with the main steps taken in business analytics. You also
need to search for qualitative data or any other information you think is appropriate for the purpose
of the analysis to prepare for the portfolio.
The main body of the portfolio will include the following sections:
Section 1: Understanding of the data (2 pages maximum) 15%
Explain the sources of the data, the types of data included in the data and comment on the quality
of the data.
Section 2: Dataset processing (2 pages maximum) 15%

Demonstrate how different methods and techniques are decided and applied to prepare the
dataset ready for analysis, e.g. how the dataset are cleansed, linked and derived in order to
achieve the purpose of the analysis.
Section 3: Data analysis (2 pages maximum) 15%
Demonstrate how the dataset are analysed, by explaining the approaches, techniques and
models adopted in the analysis, appreciating the alternative options and justifying the
appropriateness of the chosen analysis tools.
Section 4: Data visualisation (2 pages maximum) 15%
Demonstrate how different types of visualisations are decided and applied to present of the analysis and justify why the chosen visualisations, techniques and tools are the most appropriate
for the purpose of the analysis.
Section 5: Reporting (2 page maximum) 30%
Write the final report. The report will explain the purpose of the analysis, the key findings from the
analysis supported by the visualisation, and any recommendations to managerial decisionmaking or solutions to business problem as a result of the analysis.

Presentation and references worth 10% marks of this assessment.
Presenting coursework for assessment
Your assignment must be presented in the following format:

Assignment length
The length of an assignment is limited by a set number of 10 pages word document to contribute
towards the development of writing skills and to ensure all work is assessed equitably. We
therefore require you to complete your assignments within the number of 10 pages specified in
the assignment brief.
