| BUSM4547: Organizational Experience |
After a traumatic experience, it’s normal to feel frightened, sad, anxious, and
disconnected. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience significant problems even after the danger has passed may be diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
When a traumatic event occurs that represents nothing like the person’s experience of past events, and the individual’s mind is unable to effectively answer basic questions of how and why it occurred and what it means, a crisis ensues.
In this essay, you are required to:
1. Describe the impact of the crisis on a person’s functioning in terms of their effect, behavior, and cognition specifically.
2. Explain 5 protective and recovery factors that would help a person overcome a crisis.
3. Apply the 7-task model of crisis intervention to help a client who is
experiencing chronic post-traumatic stress disorder.
