Plan and Implement NAEYC Week of Young Child (WOYC) Family Event
Each year we honor our children by celebrating the Week of the Young Child. There are
many ways you can do this. You may already have your WOYC plans scheduled for this
annual April event. Here are initial directions and resources to get you started.
You will plan and implement a WOYC Family Event/Activity and incorporate each of the following into a plan that you will email to your instructor by March 25th. Your instructor must approve your WOYC Plan.
1. Develop a written WOYC Project Plan to include a synopsis of the activity/event, goals, developmentally appropriate activities, and follow-up activity to be implemented by families at home with children. Your WOYC Plan must include a flyer to announce the activity/event and a follow-up letter to send home with activity. Email your WOYC Plan as a word document attachment to your instructor at least 1 week before your implementation date.
2. Take a minimum of 3 and no more than 5 photos at your event/activity. At least 2 photos must include showing the student involved in the activity/event. Ideally, it is good to include one or more children and families engaged in some activity. Insert the photos in your WOYC Reflection assignment that you will submit according to the Syllabus Schedule. Click on the attachment for the full Reflection & Evaluation Directions Document.
