You may consult outside sources, but this is a brainstorming exercise, not a research one, & will serve as the diagnostic essay for the course. There is no need to cite sources in this activity. If there is borrowed material, all citations must be in correct MLA format.

Use your freewriting and brainstorming/idea map activities from Week Two to guide this writing.

This assignment will be scored out of five & will count for 5% of your final grade.

To get the full five points, you must have:

• A clear definition of a hero

• A specific example that fits that definition

• An introduction paragraph; three body paragraphs, each exploring a unique piece of evidence; a conclusion paragraph

• Specific evidence throughout the discussion
