Develop an essay of no less than 500 words exploring your understanding of what is meant by the term “hero.”
This is an opinion-based essay; what do you think it means to be a hero?
There is no right or wrong answer. This essay must have a clear introduction paragraph with an argumentative thesis & must engage at least one example that supports your definition of “hero.”
That can be a real person, a character from a fictional work, or a type of person. All body paragraphs must have clear topic sentences & information should be organized.
You may consult outside sources, but this is a brainstorming exercise, not a research one, & will serve as the diagnostic essay for the course. There is no need to cite sources in this activity. If there is borrowed material, all citations must be in correct MLA format.
Use your freewriting and brainstorming/idea map activities from Week Two to guide this writing.
This assignment will be scored out of five & will count for 5% of your final grade.
To get the full five points, you must have:
• A clear definition of a hero
• A specific example that fits that definition
• An introduction paragraph; three body paragraphs, each exploring a unique piece of evidence; a conclusion paragraph
• Specific evidence throughout the discussion
