Select, read, and provide a written summary, comparison, and critique of two policy analyses. You should select the two policy analyses to be on the same or closely related subject. At least one should be from a peer-reviewed journal or book. You may wish to choose a topic area that you would be interested in investigating for your group project.
As in Critique Assignment #1, briefly summarize the analyses. Assess the two analyses by comparing them with regard to approach, clarity, and persuasiveness. (Refer to Critique Assignment #1 for some possible questions to consider.) Some additional questions you may think about:
Are the two analyses written for the same audience? If not, how do the audiences differ?
Do the two analyses use the same approach and reasoning to understanding the policy issue?
Do the two analyses reach the same findings and recommendations? If so, are they equally convincing? If they are not equally convincing, which is more convincing and why?
Your written critique should be 4-6 pages long (double-spaced, standard 10-12 point font, 1 inch margins, excluding citations). You need not be complete in your summaries. Instead, provide the necessary background in order to support your comparison of the two analyses, and be sure to allocate sufficient attention and space to comparing the two analyses directly. Include full citations for any work that is not your own, including the policy analyses that you are critiquing.
