Assessment Task

This task requires the student to complete a written response knowledge assessment involving response questions. The student is expected to respond to all aspects of each question and case study. In some cases, the direction is provided on the expected length of the response.

1. Provide a definition of the concept of diversity
2. Diversity means more than just acknowledging and/or tolerating differences. Identify and briefly explain three (3) characteristics of someone who is implementing the conscious practice of diversity into their workplace role.
3.  Explain how cultural awareness, cultural safety, and cultural competence impact the role of an early childhood educator when working in the early childhood setting with people including children, families, co-workers, and external agency staff from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
