FATALITY STATISTICS ANALYSIS
Under the folder “graphs, videos and pictures for discussion” there is a folder with numerous fatality statistics and graphs.
You must locate at least 3 to 5 data points from at least 3 of the different documents/graphs
You are looking for something that stands out that you can comment on in relation to the concepts we have learned thus far
Terms that should be used in your writing include: outlier, confounding, potential confounding or confounding variable, bias, sampling (possible issues with sampling) or anything else relating to the concepts we’ve learned. Note that preference falsification/Hawthorne effect is probably NOT something present in the data as that is largely related to surveys or opinion polls.
Write a one page paper on anything that stands out or is unusual or relates to the terms above. This can also include commenting on why you thought a particular number would have been higher or lower or why you think the actual numbers themselves could be off (that would likely be confounding of some type)
You should not go into lengthy explanations of the concepts themselves but more about the data itself and how it could possibly be skewed (either underestimating or overestimating), or misleading, or incomplete?
Basically anything of interest that you feel you can comment on or contribute understanding to would be appropriate making sure you use at least a couple of the terms mentioned above at some point in your writing.
There does not need to be an opening statement or a closing statement or hypothesis of any type.
