Multitude of positive effects on both physical and mental health
Physical and mental well-being have been demonstrated to benefit from regular exercise. Exercise has been shown to improve immunity, cut diabetes mellitus and cancer risk factors, reduce depression, and reduce cardiovascular and obesity-related diseases (Shaikh & Dandekar, 2019). In order to determine the right degree of physical activity for their patients, nurse practitioners can first determine the present fitness level of their patients in order to promote healthy lifestyles and enhance exercise compliance. Fitness goals can then be established with the help of patients once their fitness level has been determined.
The patient will be presented with information about the health advantages of exercise, as well as information about which exercises are most suited to the patient’s specific needs. Patients’ knowledge of the health advantages of exercise can be conveyed in several ways. In addition to in-person exams, the media, community health centers, and self-help organizations can support patient education about healthy lifestyles and boosting exercise compliance.
Apps for smartphones can measure a variety of health-related data, such as the number of steps taken and the distance walked, as well as the heart rate and blood glucose levels of patients and healthcare providers. With a pedometer, you can keep track of how far you’ve walked and how many steps you’ve taken while exercising or going about your daily business. Heart rate monitors can be used to measure the amount of energy expended and the intensity of a workout session (Wilson, 2020). Cardiovascular problems that are aggravated by activity may benefit from heart rate monitors. Some of the same fitness-related applications can also be found on smart watches, including heart rate monitors and pedometers.

The federal government’s Healthy People 2020 initiative aims to raise public knowledge of health and disease prevention. Healthy eating and a healthy weight are two of its numerous aims to improve health and reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases (Nutrition, n.d.). In order to help their patients lead a healthier lifestyle, nurse practitioners have an important role to play. There are many ways to achieve these objectives. One is through serving as a role model for family, community members and patients.. Those that keep their promises to their patients have a higher chance of providing them with health information. It was suggested that if only nurses paid more attention to their own health, they would have an easier time affecting their patients’ well-being, and in an American study, healthy weight nurses were found to be more influential than their counterparts who were obese (Preparing, 2019). Mobile phone technology has advanced dramatically over the past decade, allowing healthcare practitioners to take advantage of this trend and use it to improve healthcare services. Weight loss and healthy lifestyles are only two of the many ways it has been employed. Mobile phone apps enable for easy distribution to patients, independent of place or time, which is a major advantage. Additionally, the widespread use of smartphones helps to break down socioeconomic barriers. The MINISTOP App is a well-known weight-loss application (Mobile-based Intervention Intended to Stop Obesity in Preschoolers). Despite the fact that this application is still in the early stages of testing, it has the potential to help people lose weight (Henriksson et al., 2020).
