qPowerPoint presentation is  key tool for presentations.

qIt is important to deliver it effectively.

qPresentation should also be powerful

qThere are basic principles to follow.

qBasic principles will be discussed.

qA presentation style will also be explored.

PowerPoint presentation has widely been used in delivering presentations. Delivering an effective and powerful presentation is key in most forums, for examples, in academic, education or business forums since  the presenter has to make a desirable impact when passing the message across. The impact should positive influence the audience in a way that the presenter desires (Sewell, 2019). Therefore, it is important to note that there are various basic principles which an individual needs to follow when preparing the PowerPoint slides for presentation and during the presentation itself. Therefore, this presentation focuses on some of the basic principles to be followed for every slide presentation. In addition, this presentation will also explore a preferred presentation style.

qText should be easy to read.

qText should be pleasant to look at

qA careful choice of theme colors

One of the basic principles is that the text used in the slides should be easy to read and at the same time pleasant to look at. The implication is that a presenter should focus on using large and simple colors. The large and simple text should be matched with theme color of best fist. Such colors and fonts can vary based on the presentation setting (Sewell, 2019). For example, when presenting with lights on, then efforts should be made to use dark text on a light background to improve visibility. When presenting in large rooms, the text should be large enough to enable the audience to read.

qThe slides should support the points.

qPeople should not read directly from the slides.

qThe presenter should not confuse audience.

qSlides should be developed to emphasize.

The focus of presentation is to present points and ideas to the audience, therefore, the PowerPoint slides should just support the points and not make them. Individuals usually fall to the trap of reading directly from the slides when presenting. In some cases, the slides have a lot of points which the presenter ignores hence leaving the audience confused as to whether they should focus on the presenter or the slides. Therefore, slides should be developed to support and not to be read from. In addition, the slides should emphasize and compliment the points (Sewell, 2019). Following this principle will ensure that the audience follow the presentation as appropriate without getting confused on whether to focus on the slides or the presenter.

qGraphics are powerful tools to enhance presentation.

qGraphics can help evoke emotions.

qGraphics can be used together with bullets.

qThey should be visually appealing.

qTheir overuse should be avoided.

Graphics are powerful tools that can be used to enhance presentation and present ideas in a more practice and visual way. Graphics should form part of the slides to help evoke the audience emotions. Even though bullets can be used to make points and ideas clearer, it is important to include graphics which depict the major points and helps the audience to understand the ideas better. Bullets can be mixed with graphics to bring the desired impact. For example, instead of using five bullets, one can chose to use two bullets and bring in relevant graphics (Sewell, 2019). Graphics can also be visually appealing to the audience hence improving their concentration and understand of the content presented. However, an overuse of the graphics should be avoided.

qClarity and simplicity should be key.

qThe slides should be neat and simple.

qEnables presenter to be concise and clear.

qGraphics can make a crowded slide simpler

qA single color background should be used.

Clarity and simplicity enhances understanding of the content being presented. Therefore, it is important to keep the PowerPoint Slides simple. Such a strategy will also help the presenter during presentation to be clear and concise when making a point. As indicated before, the use of graphics can be a great way to eliminate too much words as possible, but even so, the graphics should be simplified so that they only reflect or depict the essential elements that are key (Sewell, 2019). In addition, the information should be organized and conveyed in a more simplified and impactful way by ensuring that the template is streamlined. The use of a single-colored background should be embraced to improve simplicity.

qStyles are presentation techniques.

qA person can use one or a mixture.

qThe choice is based on settings.

qCan also be based on subject matter.

qI prefer visual presentation style.

qIt engages the audience.

Presentation styles refer to techniques that presenters use to deliver a speech or a presentation. A presenter can choose from a wide range of styles based on the audience, the subject of discussion and the setting. In some cases, an individual may choose to use one presentation style throughout the presentation duration or use a mixture of styles. My preferred style of presentation is the visual presentation style. This is a presentation style which entails the use of several visual elements to support the points of discussion and the points. The implication is that a strong mixture of both visuals and text should be used to help enhance the presentation. I like this presentation style because it keeps the audience engaged.

qPowerPoint presentations are important in presenting facts and ideas

qA few principles for slides should be followed

qSlides should be kept simple

qGraphics should appropriately be used

qA good combination of fonts and colors is key. Slides should support points
