Onita wants to buy a new laptop. She goes to Jane’s shop and sees a suitable laptop that has a price tag of £580 on the display model. Onita goes to the checkout with the price tag and advises Jane that she would only like to pay £500 for it. Jane says that she cannot accept that offer. Onita leaves but later rings up and leaves a message on Jane’s voicemail increasing her offer to £530. In the message, Onita says that she will shortly return to the shop to pay £530 and adds that she assumes the laptop is hers if she does not hear anything. Jane does not respond to the voicemail message.

A little later, Jane remembers to replace the price tag but accidentally places a £500 price tag on the display model. Later, Kian is in her shop and decides that he will buy the laptop. He offers Jane £500. Jane then realises her mistake and says that she cannot accept anything under £530. Kian refuses to pay £530 and states that Jane is obligated to sell him the laptop for £500 because it was on the price tag. She refuses to sell the laptop for £500 and tells Kian he would need to pay the full £530 to purchase the item.

Jane has also advertised the laptop online for £580. Agit phones and says he will come into the shop to pay for and collect the laptop; Jane agrees to this arrangement. When Agit arrives at the shop he hands over £550 and says he will pay the extra £30 later that day. Jane says that she cannot sell the laptop until she receives the full amount.

Agit does not return that day. Jane then decides she will hand the money back to Agit and sell the laptop to Trisha. Trisha offers £480 and Jane, after a long day, forgets momentarily how much the laptop should cost. She accepts the offer. Trisha pays the £480 using her debit card and Jane hands her the laptop. Jane then regrets selling at this price and asks Trisha for the extra £100, but she does not have the money in her account. Trisha agrees to pay the extra money but does not return.
