Purpose: This final project will be a written culmination of knowledge gained in the PSY501 Introduction to Psychology course. This paper should show your ability to identify major theories and psychological concepts, and articulate how biological, psychological and social-cultural influences affect behavior and mental processes .
Preparation: Review the learning outcomes and course goals help you be aware of expectations. Review course notes, poster session and the readings. Choose a movie form the list that you would be interested in working with. Something that has a character or characters you are interested in as you will be thinking about them and discussing them at length. It may be helpful to view the movie once, and then re-watch prepared to take notes.
Assignment: Your paper should be written in size 12 point Ariel font, no less than 5 pages, no more than 8. It should be formatted APA style including all citations and references. Your paper should include all of the following :
Section 1: Title of movie, the year released and a general, brief plot summary .
Section 2: An explanation of what you believe to be the main psychological concept, topic or theory the movie addresses (Social Psychology, Memory, life-span development, emotions, learning, etc). Make sure to provide specific examples from the movie and your own research to support your thinking.
Section 3: Identify the biological, psychological, and social-cultural influences that are present in the story and describe how they affect a character or characters. You may also discuss the positive or negative impact of the bio /psycho / social influences. Again, make sure to provide specific examples from the movie and any other research you find to support your statements.
