IV. Seminar Paper x 1 – 25% of Final Grade (1000-word Discourse)
Each student will produce a major paper (1000 words), developed from their seminar presentation. This paper will include research from not less than 2 scholarly sources.
Though the seminars may be presented in pairs, it is expected that the major papers will be individual. Though some similarity is anticipated, students should take care to use different scholarly sources and to ensure that their arguments are original and generated independently.
This is a formal piece of academic writing and should provide an in-depth analysis of your topic, using appropriate quotations and references in MLA style.
The paper should demonstrate thorough knowledge of the text and your chosen topic. There should be analysis of the research you have done and application of that research to the text. You must include appropriate direct quotations to support this analysis.
The Seminar Paper is essentially an opportunity to convert the work done before and during the Seminar Presentation into an academic discourse on the same subject.
