Write a 3-4 page, double-spaced, interpretive
paper on the three assigned verse(s) below. Papers should have 1-inch margins and use a 12-point font
(Times Romans). Each paper should have three sections. First, type out the verses(s) in your selected
Bible version (single-spaced). Second, state your understanding of the author’s intended meaning for the
verse(s) and support your interpretation with a description of the historical setting, literary context, genre
identification, grammatical analysis, and word studies. Use SBL style to document your interaction with
appropriate Bible study tools, including 2-3 recent exegetical commentaries. Third, contextualize the
verse(s) for students at the University of Northwestern. In other words, how should
Northwestern students apply the verse(s) to their lives?
