The first essay I will ask you to write will be a simple description/exposition of something you are familiar with; it has to be one reasonably non-abstract thing (don’t try to describe ‘love’ or ‘courage’ or something like that yet) and I would like you to describe it in detail. It could be an event—a concert or the like; or it could be a place, a person, or anything except it has to be non-abstract and it has to be one thing. I expect vivid description and a healthy use of adjectives.
