Hypopituitarism
You are caring for a 35 y/o Pacific-islander female admitted with a pituitary gland malignant tumor. On day 2 of admission, the patient has her pituitary gland removed. The patient is discharged with medications for Synthroid 50mcg PO daily, desmopressin 0.1mg PO BID, Fludrocortisone 0.1mg daily, and Hydrocortisone 5mg BID.
The patient has a knowledge deficiency of the diagnosis and the treatment plan prescribed by the Endocrinologist. The patient is requesting for you to write out what happened to her and why she has to take all of the medications.
Assignment: Write out how you would explain the diagnosis, why she has been prescribed the medications, and when to call the Endocrinologist if she has problems.
