1. Apply the Stages of Change Model to one of the individuals in any one of the full-length documentary films or movies you have watched from this semester:
1. Be specific – name the film and person. 2. Identify his/her/their stage of change and explain your assessment. 3. Look up some local addiction treatment options in the community (does not HAVE to be Cedar Rapids). Is there a local treatment facility or option that you might recommend for your character? What is its name? Where is it located? Why would you choose that facility?
2. In your initial thread, write a minimum of one paragraph for each question (3-5 sentences), using complete sentences and correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.
3. In reply to other students’ posts, two high-quality replies are necessary for full credit. High-quality responses go beyond, “I agree,” or “Good post.” Instead, reply as if you were having a conversation. High-quality replies should be 3- 5 sentences in length and use the writing mechanics described above. If no replies or only one reply is posted, no credit will be given for the discussion.
PEER POST #1 ALEXIS…
The person I am looking into is Michelle from Dope Sick Love. Michelle got caught with possession and was sentenced to a detox treatment. There was an issue signing up for it as she did not have any identification or insurance and she would not do it unless Sebastion would do it with her. She explained living on the streets was killing her and she talked about getting help. Throughout the movie, you can tell her emotions are all over the place with her being on drugs and having an unstable life. Michelle is in the Preparation Stage. I think she is in this stage because she tried to get help by setting up an appointment right after getting out of jail but went straight back to drugs as she waiting for her id and has not attended an appointment yet. Then once she got her id she called to get to the detox and was headed that way without Sebastion. I personally think Michelle should go to treatment by herself to focus on herself. There is a place in Cedar Rapids called Inpatient Alcohol Rehab and Detox Center. They have a safe place for people to stay while undergoing treatment which is good for Michelle because she is homeless.
