Antifreeze, or engine coolant, is a coloured liquid that is mixed with water to help regulate the engine during extreme temperatures. But antifreeze does more than just regulate temperatures. Maintaining proper fluid levels also helps to prevent corrosion. Potential antifreezes are alcohol water-solutions such as investigated by Cho et al., 2004 or Corti et al., 2006 for cold start of automotive polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells.
