A case manager must be able to interview a client and develop a case plan for them. You will put your case management and interviewing skills to the test in this assignment. Don’t forget to focus on creating rapport and discovering how case management works beyond the theoretical frameworks and models you’ve studied.
Make an effort to locate a local social services agency that provides reentry assistance or other resources for persons who have been incarcerated.
Identify a case manager or case planner at the agency. To learn more about case management, practice interviewing a practitioner.
Preparation is key, so come up with a list of questions to ask the candidate so you can learn more about case management. Record the interviewee’s answers to your questions during the interview.
Ask the questions you’ve prepared for your interviewee. The following questions should be included:
What’s the narrative behind your company’s origins?
What kinds of clients does your company serve?
When working with this group, what are some of the unique obstacles you face? What are your methods for dealing with them? How can you make the interview more interesting for the client? What tactics have shown to be successful in the past? Do you know which to avoid? During the evaluation, what questions do you ask? When doing the evaluation, what methods do you use? In what ways do you and your company handle cases in the workplace? In what ways do you employ these techniques to keep track of your cases?

In this assignment, you will apply what you have learned about how to manage a case and practice your interviewing skills. Remember to work on building a working relationship with your interviewee, as well as identify how case management occurs beyond the theories and models.
Locate a social services agency in your area that provides reentry services or other programs for those involved in the criminal justice system.
Identify someone at the agency who does case management or case planning. Practice your interviewing skills to obtain information about case management from a practitioner.
Create an interview plan for your interview complete with questions to learn more about case management from your interviewee. During the interview, take notes of the interviewee’s responses to your questions.
Ask your interviewee the questions you have prepared. Include the following questions:
