Learning Goal: I’m working on a english writing question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
Using “the End of the Affair” by Gray am Greene, examine the ways in which historical and/or cultural context shapes this text and illuminate our understanding of it. The paper must have a clear thesis statement that tells your reader what you will be trying to show. You will use specific evidence from the work and from your research to support your thesis.
Important note: You must analyze the relationship between research and the text, not just summarize each of them
Must cite 5 sources and include a works cited page
Choose one of the texts from the syllabus and research the historical period in which it was written or the period in which it is set. Then, develop a thesis statement based on the following questions: How is the historical period reflected in the text? Which details are more significant as a result of knowing the history/culture? What is the relationship between the text and the culture? How does the culture shape our reading of the text? How does the text shape our reading of the culture? Use specific examples from both the text and the history/culture to support your points.
