Assignment Task
1. Describe and identify the problem that was expected to be solved by implementation of the application- The description includes the overview of the application including the problem that the organization expected to solve. Includes description of the magnitude of the problem (found in literature) and the approach taken by the organization.
2. Identify items of importance found during the assessment of the module/application using the vendor matrix tool- The vendor evaluation tool is used as part of the critique of the application. The prioritization of the different criteria is completed from the perspective of the organization. A total score is included in the presentation. Low and high scores are discussed in the presentation.
Vendor matrix tool-
3. Discuss unintended consequences or patient safety issues identified during the assessment of the module/application-Describe unintended consequences or patient safety issues identified. Workflow or process change or other root issues caused by the technology that have or potentially can contribute to unintended consequences. Gives examples of the challenges and/or improvements that have occurred because of the implementation of the application.
4. Describes the usability issues that heuristics evaluation identified- Describes the usability issues that a heuristics evaluation using the Nielsen-Shneidermann Heuristics tool. Discusses some of the more important heuristics evaluated. Grades the application using the Severity rating scale (Zhang, 2013).
5. Includes a conclusion, summarizing the findings and possible optimizations that were identified in the evaluation. Future implications such as possible replacement by other technologies. Identifies the nursing informatics role in optimization of application to further advance nursing practice.
