For this writing project, you will write a 1000-word essay in the genre style of The Story of More: a blend of personal narrative with scientific reporting.
One of the things that makes TSOM so readable is Jahren’s ability to weave scientific data that applies to humanity at large with personal stories from her hometown and personal life.
As much as you are able, model the writing you do for this paper after Jahren’s style. Try to have your own voice included alongside the sources you research.
Tell the story of how your topic impacts you and your loved ones in this community, and use your sources to inform your readers about the bigger, scientific context.
Requirements
Minimum of two (2) outside sources (scholarly sources and/or local issue sources) in addition to The Story of More.
You are also encouraged to include anything from TSOM that might be relevant to your topic, although this would not count for one of these two sources.
Due 12/3 – 1000 words minimum, MLA Works Cited page, and in-text citations.
