Purpose:
An important function of an OD consultant is data collection. In this activity you will take up the role of an OD consultant and learn relevant aspects pertaining to data collection—choosing a research method, designing your survey/interview questions/observation plan, and be able to justify your selection choice. Then discuss the problems you faced while collecting empirical data and how you tried to overcome them to ensure you were able to complete your assigned task efficiently.
This assignment will meet the course goals of developing the skills change agents need. And the learning objective of being able to apply these change management skills.
Description of the Task:
In this weekly activity you will imagine yourself to be an OD consultant who needs to investigate the working climate of a department/organization. What diagnostic method of data collection would you use?
Instructions to the students:
Choose one research method– Survey/Interview/Observation.
Prepare survey questions/interview questions or observation plan.
Upload your survey/interview questions or observation plan.
Make sure you prepare at least 10 questions for your survey or interview. Or if you selected observation method then a detailed observation plan for at least 2 days—number of hours, who you plan to observe, how you will record your observations etc.
