Prompt: You love your job. The work suits you, your colleagues are mostly great people, and you enjoy a great deal of camaraderie around the office or worksite. While you are happy at work, there are several problems that, if addressed, might make the environment even better.
Your assignment is to write a draft (250-500 word) Problem Statement Letter (these are sometimes also called “letter proposals”) to your supervisor explaining a significant worksite problem: what it is, why it’s a problem, and, briefly, how you propose to solve it. At the same time, you want to be open to other possible solutions, particularly if yours is costly.
Remember, you have a good relationship with your colleagues and your supervisor and you don’t want to appear to be complaining. Instead, you need to write the proposal so that you are seen as loyal to the company and dedicated to improvements that benefit the bottom line.
