Several strong words to consider using to make your stance in an argumentative thesis statement include: “should”, “should be”, “is the key”, “should no longer”, “demands” – these words interjected into your thesis sentence tells the reader where you stand and what to expect from the paper – you don’t have to agree with the statement; the assignment is to see if you can WRITE one :). CHOOSE TOPICS THAT EVOKE EMOTION EITHER FOR OR AGAINST! If you state that “Education is the key to preventing diabetic complications” as a thesis statement; this typically won’t be argued against – Choose topics that will be argued for or against and spark passion in another!
